Results of the FAS Senate 2020 Elections Announced

Nikhil Padmanabhan and Michael Fischer, co-chairs of the Elections Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Senate (FASS) have announced the results of the 2020 FASS elections. Re-elected and newly elected senators are:

 Newly Elected Senators:

- Steven Wilkinson, Political Science and International Affairs
(At-Large)
- Aimee Cox, Anthropology and African-American Studies (Social Sciences)
- R. Howard Bloch, French (Humanities)
- Marta Figlerowicz, Comparative Literature and English (Humanities)
- Matthew Jacobson, American Studies & African American Studies (Humanities)
- Kathryn Slanski, Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations (Humanities)
- David Bercovici, Earth and Planetary Sciences (Science and Engineering)
- Charles Schmuttenmaer, Chemistry (Science and Engineering)
- Meg Urry, Physics and Astronomy, (Science and Engineering)

The 11 elected senators will join the 11 continuing senators: Sybil Alexandrov, Emily Erikson, Joseph Fischel, John Geanakoplos, Alessandro Gomez, Valerie Horsley, Jennifer Klein, Hélène Landemore, Timothy Newhouse, William Nordhaus and Paul Van Tassel.

The FASS is grateful to everyone who ran in the election and to all 580 colleagues who voted, for a record 69% turnout.

The elections were made possible by the work of the FAS Senate Nominations Committee (Charles Schmuttenmaer (chair), Sybil Alexandrov, Claire Bowern, Emily Erikson, Jennifer Klein, Mark Mooseker and Isaac Nakhimovsky) and the Elections Committee (Michael Fischer (co-chair), Nikhil Padmanabhan (co-chair), Charles Schmuttenmaer, Hélène Landemore and Dirk Bergemann). And, a special thank you to Matthew Regan and Jay Emerson who dedicated a vast amount of time to the smooth-running of the elections.
